Alaska Power Association
Mission Statement:
The mission of Alaska Power Association is to assist our members in accomplishing their goals of delivering electric energy and other services at the best value to their consumers.
Alaska Power Association provides representation and program services to help our utility members be cost-effective in their efforts to serve consumers.
The organization is governed by a board of directors comprised of representatives from each of the electric cooperative and municipal member utilities. More than 90 percent of Alaskans receive electricity from either a cooperative or a municipal (publicly-owned) utility.
Membership Categories:
- Active Members: Rural electric cooperative corporations, municipally-owned electric utilities, regional electric authorities, or joint action agencies organized under the laws of the State of Alaska with annual sales of at least 800 mwh.
- Contributing Members: Utilities or utility organization not eligible for active membership but with a substantial interest in the Association.
- Associate Members: Individuals, partnerships, corporations or other organizations not eligible for Active or Contributing membership, but with a substantial interest in the activities of Alaska Power Association.
